biography

Gavin graduated with a BA Hons Fine Art (painting and drawing) from Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee and that is where he now lives with his family. He is reknowned for his remarkable still life paintings and for his paintings of the Scottish landscape.

Gavin works traditionally from sketches, which he sees as a 'great way to learn the craft of painting and life'. Gavin has a great skill in taking very commonplace objects and places and then turning them into glorious works of art. He likes to paint outdoors where he finds inspiration in the changing light and the many challenges the landscape affords.

His latest collection of paintings present a stimulating and insightful window on aspects of Scottish life and Scottish landscapes.

Gavin has been a regular exhibiter at Resipole Studios since the gallery opened and we are delighted to show his work.
