Gail studied painting at the University of California before her lifelong interest in archaeology led her to California State University where she combined a love of painting and drawing to create a unique degree programme. Subsequently, she was awarded a degree in Archaeological Illustration in 1978. Her work as an illustrator took her all over the world and this global perspective has had a great influence on both her personal and professional life. In both figurative and landscape paintings, her goal is the interpretation of movement, light, colour and passion in the music, dance or landscape. For thirteen years, Gail lived and worked in Glenfinnan, painting the musicians, ceilidhs and landscape that carries so much of the Scots’ passion for life. Recently, she has returned to the US to establish a studio there. In the past few years, Gail’s interest in new places has surfaced and she has started painting on visits to Tenerife, the French Coast and Morocco.
