Andrew Sinclair the founder and proprietor of Resipole Studios is primarily figurative in his approach. He graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee in 1996 with an honours in Drawing and Painting. Andrew paints in the manner of ‘chiaroscuro’ style, using strong contrasting tones to recreate the human form. Andrew creates a window into real-life scenes through his work which includes intimate compositions and larger group pieces. ‘Using strong lighting on the subject assists in capturing the form and creating a dynamic solid composition. Through subtle narratives within the painting an interaction develops between the viewer and the subjects portrayed.’
Andrew’s work exudes a certain spice, most likely picked up from some far off land; a flavour he has successfully merged with his study of Highland locals. He is currently working on a series of paintings based on the local, traditional artisans of the Scottish West Highlands and a series of quirky still life paintings.
