Karen Beauchamp lives on the Kintyre peninsula. Born in London of Scottish descent, she trained as an architect, but diversified into set design for the BBC in London and then into wallpaper design and printing, which became a passion. Working with repeat pattern and advanced printing techniques has been her life’s work. Colour has always been her absolute obsession; she collects earth pigments from all over the world and books about colour. Inspired by the atmosphere, spatial relationships and the ever-changing colours of the landscape, she faces the daily challenge to translate these with paint and printmaking. The dynamic shapes in Argyll, the colours and landscape, especially the geology, inspire Karen. Working with the bold shapes of the rocks, land, trees and plants, she interprets these into hand carved and coloured print, as well  as other mixed media works.
