kirsty lorenz
Kirsty Lorenz is a Scottish artist whose work is deeply inspired by nature, in particular flowers and plants. Creating art is a form of devotion for Kirsty: a way to express love, gratitude, and a deep sense of interconnectedness with nature. Meticulous observation and research inform the way she depicts plants, though she strives to go beyond mere representation. Recently her work has become more stylised and expressive. This has been informed by research she has carried out into the history of the healing properties of plants, as well as historical plant illustration, at The Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, The Royal College of Physicians, Kew Gardens Library and Archive and The Linnean Society. However, she is also inspired by the elemental landscapes of north west Scotland. Kirsty lives in rural Fife, and works in a very unique studio: a converted railway station restaurant perched on Platform 2 of the historic Ladybank station.
