Resipole Studios Fine Art Gallery is delighted to present One Loch, One River, Journey of the Shiel, an exhibition of stunning new paintings by celebrated Scottish colourist Cara McKinnon Crawford. This impressive body of work documents her personal journey along the River Shiel, from the top of Loch Shiel at Glenfinnan to the head of the river at Acharacle, where it begins winding its way towards the sea. Having been drawn to Ardnamurchan as a source of inspiration for thirty years, it is the Shiel that has most captured the artist’s imagination; a place she has established a deep connection with and returned to time and time again. Having travelled along the course of the river on foot, by kayak and even by plane, each time with sketchbook or canvas in hand, it’s safe to say that the artist knows this body of water better than most. Painting in all weather conditions, predominantly on location, Cara captures the very essence of the Shiel, throughout the changing seasons. The result is a magnificent collection of paintings: a visual love letter to a place that has become deeply embedded in the artist’s soul.
