The sounds of scotland series is inspired by the many spectacular narrow bodies of water around scotland's rugged coast, typically separating islands or peninsulas. Sounds or inles can vary in size from substantial sea channels to the tiny clachan sound, spanned by an old stone bridge.

The wood for this table is from a large elm tree that was taken down over 10 years ago with 1 mile of the artist's workshop. In the spring of 2025, it was cut up, planked and kiln dried.
