Susie Wilson's journey into sculpture began serendipitously. A visit to the Devon Art Workshop to learn horse drawing rekindled her artistic spark. There, she met sculptor Scilla Hann, who encouraged her to join a sculpting course with Judy Boyt. Under Judy's mentorship, Susie's hobby blossomed into a passion. Over the past decade, she has established herself as a talented sculptor, known for her keen eye for detail and ability to capture the essence of her subjects.
Her first public piece was unveiled in Guildford in March 2019, and since then, her work has been exhibited in prestigious venues across the UK, including Chatsworth, Beaulieu, and the Cheltenham and Grand National festivals. Her sculptures have found homes in collections worldwide, from Canada to Switzerland.
Susie's deep connection with animals and her empathetic nature allow her to imbue her work with lifelike qualities. Her ability to read both human and animal body language enables her to capture the unique character and spirit of each subject. This talent has led to emotional responses from clients, as they recognise the special bond between themselves and their beloved animals.
