Aberdeen based artist William Reid studied painting at Grays School of Art, graduating in 1988. His works are inspired by the Aberdeenshire landscape as well as visits to the west coast of Scotland. Developed from the observation of natural forms in the environment, they are influenced by light, pattern and organic process. His techniques, using acrylic paint and collage elements, create a surface dimension to the painting which interpret elements found in nature. Originating from initial visits to a place, his paintings are refined over a longer period of time in the studio, allowing him to explore new aspects of landscape in his work. William has works in private and public collections including Aberdeen Art Gallery and Grampian Hospital Arts Trust.
